The accreditation process consist of four steps:

1. APPLICATION

The application is designed for us to get to know you and to see where you are at in your career.  This is an open application to everyone.  There are no prerequisites to apply.  Once your application has been processed, you will receive an email with more information regarding the next steps to take in the process.

The fee for the application is $500 for club members and $700 for non-members.  The fees are non-refundable.  The fees cover processing and one testing examination.  Once the application and the fee is paid, a link with more information will be sent so the exam can be taken.

2. WRITTEN EXAM

The written exam tests the core principles and concepts in biomimetic dentistry.  Individuals who are knowledgeable in all areas of biomimetic dentistry are expected to pass the written examination.  If unable to pass the written examination, it is suggested that more courses or training be done before proceeding to the next step.

Once the test is competed and passed, you will have three years to complete the requirements for the case submissions.

3. CASE SUBMISSIONS

There are five groups of restorations that will be needed to be completed and documented.  The case submissions will test the applicants knowledge previously learned.  Each grouping will need to be submitted individually and in the order listed below.

Areas covered will include:

  1. Direct restorations
  2. Semi-indirect restorations
  3. Indirect restorations
  4. Restoring endodontically treated teeth
  5. Elective: (you are free to pick what interests you, can be more of whats listed above, anterior cases, missing teeth replacements, etc.  It just needs to be bonded.)

Documentation must include pre and post-op photographs as well as pre/post-op bitewing radiograph of the selected case.  Patient's reported symptoms as well as background information of the case are also required.

A total of twenty cases will need to be submitted, with four cases coming from each group.  Of those 20 cases, ten of the cases will need to include the deep margin elevation and caries removal endpoints techniques.  Those can be done on either direct, semi-indirect, or indirect restorations.  The majority of cases need to be on posterior teeth.  Only a total of four cases may be on anterior teeth.  There is a $200 submission fee per group catergory.

4. ORAL EXAM

The oral exam is a chance to explain your selected cases as well as demonstrate your ability to apply biomimetic concepts.  Questions regarding treatment planning, viable treatment alternatives, as well as criteria for case selection may be asked. The oral exam to complete the accreditation is $500.

After successful completion of these four steps, you'll be an ACCREDITED BIOMIMETIC DENTIST!
